I have never done Muay Thai before, can I still join classes?

Definitely.  Everyone at some stage was walking through the door for the first time as a beginner.  We have a culture that all fighters and higher-level students are on hand to help you on your journey. We pay it forward at Portsmouth Muay Thai and you will be welcomed and helped by every member of the team.

Do you offer a free trial class?

Absolutely!  Here at Portsmouth Muay Thai we are passionate about introducing people to the sport and are confident that you will love it just as we do! We pride ourselves not only on delivering high quality and fun classes, but also in creating a family atmosphere.  Contact us today for a free trial class.  You will be happy you did.

What equipment is needed to join in the classes?

In the first instance, just yourself and clothing suitable for training. Shorts and a vest/tee is perfect. We can provide you with spare gloves and shin guards. Once you know that this is the sport for you, you can then Invest in gloves and other equipment as well as a mouth guard and groin guard if you want to spar.

Can I do private training?

Yes, we offer one-to-one sessions and small group sessions. Private training is tailored, and produces the fastest progress.  We provide personal attention to make sure that you get the right training for your personal needs.  Be it fitness, fight training, learning the basics, or to improve and sharpen techniques. 

Are classes mixed?

All classes unless specifically stated, are open to men and women of ages 16+.  We are a fully inclusive club and are all here to have fun, get fit and practice the sport we love. 

Is Muay Thai difficult?

Muay Thai moves are designed to be simple and effective in combat. As such, the techniques are easy to learn. However, Muay Thai training involves extensive conditioning and can be physically intensive, making it a great way to get fit or lose way

Do you have changing facilities on site?

Yes, we have male and female changing rooms, toilets and showers.  There is also a sauna and café in the gym.

Do you need a gym membership to join the classes?

No, if you do not have a gym membership, or a membership where classes are included, you can join with pay as you go sessions.
